Privacy Policy for QR Code Scanner Barcode Reader
Last updated: October 6, 2026
QR Code Scanner Barcode Reader (the "App") is provided by Tinkerlane Studios ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used and stored, and the choices available to you.
The App processes scanned and created code content on your device. It also shows ads through Google AdMob, whose software collects certain device and usage data as described below.
Information the App accesses
- Camera: When you choose to scan, the App uses your camera to detect QR codes and barcodes.
- Selected images and files: When you choose to scan an image, batch scan, clean a photo, or import codes from a CSV file, the App accesses the items you select for that action. Photos may contain metadata, including GPS information, and may show people or other personal details.
- Code contents: Codes you scan or create may contain text, links, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials, payment details, or other information. The App uses that content to display scan results, generate codes, and provide the features you request.
- History and organization: If you enable saved history, the App stores scan records and any related notes or tags in a local database on your device. Sensitive payloads are not saved unless you enable the separate setting for them. Incognito scans do not leave a record, thumbnail, or payload in the App's history.
- Notifications: If you enable reminders and allow notifications, the App may display reminders on your device.
- Device authentication: If you enable the History lock, the App uses Android's device authentication to confirm access. Android handles your biometric or device credential check; the App does not need your fingerprint or face template.
- Advertising data: The Google Mobile Ads SDK used for AdMob automatically collects and shares data with Google for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention. This can include your IP address (which can indicate approximate location), interactions with the App and ads, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers such as an advertising ID or app set ID, depending on device and SDK settings.
How information is used
The App uses code contents and selected files to scan and create codes, show results and previews, prepare label sheets, compare or verify codes, clean selected photos, and maintain history according to your settings. The photo-cleaning feature can remove GPS metadata and blur faces in a selected image. The App does not send scanned or created code contents, selected photos, or local history to AdMob for advertising.
Storage, sharing, and third-party services
Saved history is stored in the App's local database on your device. You can choose whether to save history, whether sensitive payloads may be saved, whether scans start in incognito, and whether History requires device authentication.
The App uses Google AdMob, provided by Google LLC, to display ads. Google's Mobile Ads SDK sends the advertising data described above to Google for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention. Depending on your settings and applicable requirements, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Google may also work with advertising partners. For details on Google's use of data and retention practices, see How Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. We do not use other advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or cloud-sync services.
Incognito scanning only controls what the App saves in local scan history. It does not stop AdMob from processing advertising data when ads are loaded.
When you choose to share or export a code, label, or cleaned photo, the destination app or service receives the information you choose to send. When you open a scanned link, the website or browser you choose may process information under its own privacy policy. We do not control those third-party destinations.
Retention and deletion
Information saved in the App's local database remains on your device until it is deleted. Turning off future history saving does not necessarily remove records already saved. You can remove local App data through Android's app storage controls or by uninstalling the App; device backup and restore settings may affect whether a copy is retained by Android. Incognito scans are not added to saved history, and sensitive payload saving is off by default.
Google retains AdMob-related data under its own policies. You can use Android's advertising controls and Google's ad settings to manage ad personalization and related choices. Contact us for questions about data handled by the App.
Security
We use Android's permission controls for access to the camera, selected files, notifications, and device authentication where applicable. Saved history is held in the App's local database. If you enable the History lock, access to that screen requires the device authentication method available on your phone. Google's Mobile Ads SDK encrypts the data it transmits using TLS.
Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not specifically designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through the App, contact us using the details below so we can review the matter.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the App's features or data practices change. The updated version will show a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
